The Genesis Fund was founded in 1982 by Dr. Murray Feingold to bridge the gap between coordinated medical care and typical health insurance coverage. Through fundraising events and private and corporate contributions, The Genesis Fund has raised over $20 million dollars. Our mission is to provide funding for specialized care of New England Area children with birth defects, genetic diseases, and mental retardation.
The Genesis Fund primarily supports The National Birth Defects Center (NBDC), The Pregnancy Exposure InfoLine (PEIL) and Therapy & the Performing Arts (TPA).
The Genesis Fund also funds therapeutic programs for children with special needs, and pioneers a public service program designed to inform the public about prenatal concerns.
Our physicians at The National Birth Defects Center (NBDC) provide diagnosis and treatment for children with birth defects, genetic diseases, and mental retardation. Many of the children they treat require the care of numerous specialists. The NBDC staff coordinates these appointments thus decreasing the necessity of frequent trips to physicians. The NBDC supports 11 satellite clinics through out the New England area which allow children and families to receive care in their local community.
